Ciao everyone! As I write this I am practicully freezing, but it is much better than the spirit crushing heat of Australia. Anyways this week has been very busy with me starting school, attempting to do vital paperwork and making many visits to my host family's family. On Wednesday I went to the most magnificent party. The party was a birthday celebration for a friend of my Rosa ( rosa is pink in italiano). We danced (Italian dances seem to be mostly line dances, which I love, and American or English music) and ate great food. It was exactly what I needed, the perfect distraction. Last night or Thursday was also amazing. My host brother's aunt unexspectantly came and picked me up to suprise her daughter Megghi (I love the spelling of it) whom I am friends with. Megghi is learning English so I have been helping her learn vocabulary and dialouge for situations. We then walked for an excurciating long time in the town of Maddaloni, where I have been placed for my Exchange. It was good to actually see and walk around Maddaloni, but I tell you it was very exhausting! We walked in and around the plaza or piazza which is more like a street with a small park square on it. We then returned to her apartment or flat for dinner, they eat dinner at 8:00 here, but I find that I am not hungry until then! Weird! We ate a potato and prosciutto (ham) casseraloe. It was very nice, I will have to ask her for the recipe so I can post it here! Today has been full of school (I got my uniform yesteday so I will post a picute later) and of much hard work. But everything seems to be going very good right now and when things get stressful the words "Don't worry, be happy." always seem to come to mind. Thank you for your comments and well wishes, they really do help me get through the day.Well, I will post later so grazie e arreviderci!
As the exciting and excruciatingly long journey draws closer, I seem to get even more eager to get the show on the road. We are at the point of what mi madre and mi padre calls "hurry up and wait", which basically means I can not pack my bags or get on a flight because it isn't time to just yet. Despite my whinging about get on a long flight, I am actually looking forward to it. The only reason being is the TV monitor cleverly planted in front of my face for the majority of my trip. Have I ever told you that on our flight to Australia I watched an entire season of Downton Abbey? So there is something to look forward to... Anyways hopefully all will go well with my flights and of course my stay in Italia. Thank you again to the people who made this happen for me, for that I am eternally grateful.
